Pooja Batra was born 27 October 1976 in Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh, is an Indian actor. Her mother Neelam Batra was a former Miss India participant in 1971. She did her schooling in Kendriya Vidyalaya, where she enjoyed sports, debates and plays.She majoring in Economics at the Fergusson College, Pune. She has also earned an MBA in marketing from Symbiosis College, Pune.

Batra was married to orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Sonu Ahluwalia, Los Angeles, California between 2002 and 2010.
