SRK, Aamir at India Srilanka Finals, Aamir, Shah Rukh Khan to add star power at Wankhede Stadium, India Srilanka ICC world cup finals at Wankhede

One would have thought Bollywood stars would come out in full force at the Wankhede Stadium Saturday, but actors Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan seem to be the only top stars who will be cheering the Men in Blue.

Shooting schedules will keep big names like Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra and Bipasha Basu away from the field where India and Sri Lanka will play the World Cup final. Salman Khan, Abhishek Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar are planning to watch the game on TV at home.

Aamir, who attended the exciting semifinal at Mohali with his wife Kiran Rao, has requested his director Reema Kagti to give him a weekly off from the shooting Saturday, instead of on April 4.

"Aamir plans to wear the same clothes that he wore for the semi-finals as he is superstitious about these things while watching cricket," Aamir's publicist told IANS.

Shah Rukh, a cricket enthusiast and the owner of the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), chose to stay at home for the semifinal, and watched it with a host of other Bollywood celebrities. But missing the match in Mumbai was out of question, and he will head to the stadium with his children - Aryan, 14, and Suhana, 11.

Soon after India's victory over Pakistan in the semifinal at Mohali, Khan told reporters: "We will win the final also. I have bought an extra T-Shirt for that... so I have to go there and watch the finals Inshallah! The kids want to go and see."

Actress Lara Dutta will add her share of glamour too at the stadium even if her husband, ace tennis player Mahesh Bhupathi, will be busy playing in the finals of Miami Masters tennis tournament in Florida, US.

"Bumper Bonanza Saturday!! Husband in the Miami Open Finals!:-) , will be cheering our Boys in Blue at the stadium!! Praying 4 a double win!!," Lara posted on her Twitter page.

As for Salman, he says he is not a cricket freak, but might end up at the stadium to enjoy the frenzy at the World Cup final between India and Sri Lanka.

"I plan to watch the final from home. But I might also land up at the Wankhede Stadium if I am in the mood," he said.

Abhishek, who had said he doesn't watch the match as he is superstitious about it, plans to catch the action on television.

"It will be good watching the match from my home rather than the stadium. I will be more comfortable," said Abhishek.

Actor-director Farhan Akhtar too would follow suit.

"It will be a good idea to watch the match from the comfort of my home. I will surely have a few friends come over and we will enjoy together," he said.

SRK Xtrme City with Leonardo Di Caprio?

If everything works out well, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan will soon work with Hollywood heartthrob Leonardo Di Caprio in a film which will be co-produced by the legendary Martin Scorsese.

Renowned writer of Robert De Niro's 1976 hit 'Taxi Driver', Paul Schrader will direct the film. Paul has co-written the film with Shah Rukh's friend and Ra.One, Om Shanti Om screenwriter Mushtaq Shiekh.

It all happened at the Berlin film festival, last year where Shah Rukh had gone for My Name is Khan while Leo and Martin to promote their film Shutter Island.

The film is apparently a crime-thriller which will be shot mainly in Mumbai, India, since the story will revolve around the criminal underbelly of Mumbai.

The film is called 'Xtrme City'.

"SRK gave me the canvas I wanted" - Roshan Abbas

Radio Jockey. Television host. Theatre person. Roshan Abbas is wearing a new hat these days, that of a director. For those unaware of what Roshan has been up to, well, he's giving finishing touches to his directorial debut - ALWAYS KABHI KABHI - which is produced by none other than the superstar himself, Shah Rukh Khan. Surprisingly, the project in question doesn't star SRK in the lead, but four new faces - Satyajeet Dubey, Aly Fazal, Giselli Monteiro and Zoa Morani.

It all began while a show in Dubai, featuring SRK and hosted by Roshan, got delayed. "We got talking. He asked me what I was doing and I replied that I was planning to start a film on teens, with freshers enacting pivotal parts. It didn't require the presence of big stars, but it did require a big production house to back it. We met again in India, had our round of discussions on the project and he stepped forward to produce it." Prior to that, Roshan was in preliminary talks with Ritesh Sidhwani and also with the people at Studio 18, but as luck would have it, Roshan's directorial debut was destined to be produced by SRK.

ALWAYS KABHI KABHI is based on Roshan's 1999 play 'Graffiti'. "But it took time to develop it into a full-fledged screenplay. Shah Rukh pointed out two things. One, cinema and play are two different mediums and the written material had to be more cinematic. Two, it had to be contemporary. Also, I'd like to clarify, though the film revolves around teens, it's not inspired by 'Archie'. It actually borrows from real life experiences," Roshan divulges.

Did SRK offer suggestions, give inputs, recommend actors? "But he never imposed his ideas/suggestions," he interrupts, "He'd say, this is what I feel about a particular thing/issue/person, it's up to you to accept it. He gave me the freedom to make the movie I had envisioned and visualized at the outset. He gave me the canvas I wanted," he adds. Was it tough giving shape to his dream? "Not really! Initially, I wondered, will I get the grammar right? Will the cinematographer translate my vision on celluloid? But it wasn't tough. All you need is the right atmosphere to translate your ideas on celluloid," Roshan reveals.

Roshan's dream will unfold on the big screen on 17 June this year. "I have truly enjoyed the experience of making ALWAYS KABHI KABHI. And I wish to continue chasing my dream," he smiles. We're equally sure Roshan, you will have many interesting stories to tell in times to come.
